Scene & Heard was founded in January 2006 to serve the Entertainment Technology sector by merging the skill sets of technology product sales expert Julian Ramm, and Janette Boatwright, a public relations and marketing account executive for the entertainment-tech industry.

Our mission: To provide effective, industry specific, public relations and marketing communications to the Film, Production, Post Production, FX and Broadcast industries.
Julian hails from across the Pond where he serviced London’s Soho Post community for many years before moving to Los Angeles in the late 90’s. He excelled as a top-performing account executive in the Broadcast and Post markets for industry notables Sony and Panasonic; bringing away vast technical knowledge but more importantly, an understanding of the inner-workings of the entertainment industry markets and how the technology fits big picture goals from top tier management, to craftspeople, to resellers and distributors. He is known far and wide for his astute abilities in technology integration—being able to quickly assess what’s needed, what’s viable, and what actually works now in technology—he also has vast knowledge in what is effective and what should be avoided in marketing new products. Julian’s industry insights provide critical guidance to new product manufacturers entering the entertainment-tech marketplace and to existing companies looking to expand their reach or product line.
Janette’s roots are in post production. She marketed the iconic Post Group-Hollywood when it was in its heyday; garnering Telly and NY Festival awards for producing innovative marketing materials. Her agency account experience prior to forming Scene & Heard covers Post, Broadcast, Film and Print accounts for companies including: Digital Vision, Entertainment Technology Consultants, Lightning Media, Lightworks, MTI Film, Quantel, and Modern Videofilm. Between agencies, Janette took a post at Gannett Outdoor; transitioning with various mergers through the Viacom Outdoor regime. There, she worked with accounts for major studios, OSI Media, and numerous consumer product companies while overseeing the major client and employee events and the internal volunteer program. Janette is respected among media and her peers as a diverse professional with unflagging enthusiasm and a solid ability to translate tech speak to the non-tech speaking universe.
Julian and Janette share affection for the entertainment communities they “grew up in” and an enduring common belief that you should do what you love and love what you do. They are governed personally and professionally by the values they apply to producing results-driven account work—they believe that hard work is good and smart work is better—and it’s rumored the Scene & Heard internal dictionary has an added definition for the word spin: (pro-verb) “what goes around comes around.”
