S.two Corporation has released details of how Wildcat Films (UK) used its technically proven uncompressed data workflow to capture the images seen throughout the World in the BBC/Discovery special Emmy® award winning documentary Planet Earth.

Wildcat Films owner David Baillie comments, “As one of the first stabilized HD gimbal operators in Europe Wildcat looked hard for the very best HD recording system for use in the air. We had a camera that output uncompressed 4:4:4 so there didn't seem any point in having a recorder that took away any of that quality. “Back in post the graders and HD supervisor were unequivocal in praising the advantages of working with data rather than a compressed tape stream.

“And the best compliment of all - we’re already working on the next big wildlife landmark series from the BBC/Discovery (and also the one after that!).”
